1. Don’t expect overnight results
Sadly, there is no such thing as an overnight fix. Usually it takes up to six weeks for your skin to transform.
2. Things can get worse before they get better
This can happen at the start of a new skin care regime. It’s often a case of your skin purging. Don’t despair. Stick with it and results will follow.
3. Don’t pick or squeeze
I know it’s tempting but try not to do it. Picking or squeezing can cause further inflammation and can result in infection and scarring.
4. Choose oil-free and non-comedogenic skincare and makeup
You don’t want to add oil to your skin or risk clogging your pores (non-comedogenic means non-clogging). Mineral makeup is a great option as it sits on top of your skin.
5. Avoid facial scrubs
These can irritate your skin and make your acne worse.
6. Talk to your doctor before changing your diet
Before permanently cutting any food from your diet, talk to your Dr as this can lead to potential nutritional deficiencies. While diet can play a role in causing acne, keeping your skin clear usually requires more than a diet change.
7. Always, always, always wear sunscreen
It’s essential that you protect your skin from the sun. Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before you head outside and reapply liberally and often.
